Platform-L Contemporary Art Center in Seoul is presenting 'Karel Martens: Still Moving', a solo exhibition of Karel Martens, who is a world-acclaimed graphic designer and artist from the Netherlands. The exhibition starts from October 11, 2018 through January 20, 2019.
A prolific graphic designer for more than 60 years, Martens has established himself as a unique presence in the design world. He shows undefined, diverse oeuvres, from traditionally creative print works to moving image based interactive and kinetic works.
‘Karel Martens: Still Moving' introduces the artistic world of Martens and shows us his tireless affection and enthusiasm for his diverse practice.
Martens is well-known for designing letterpress monoprints made with collected objects such as Dutch coins, stamps and phone cards. He has been lauded for designing the 'OASE' architectural magazine and SUN publications. He co-founded the Werkplaats Typografie, a renowned Masters course for typography in Arnhem, Netherlands, in 1988 and he has been a visiting professor at Yale since 1997. His students include Na Kim, and the group Sulki and Min who will also collaborate in the production process of the exhibition.
